What paperwork do I need to
donate my vehicle in California?
For quickest processing we need
the title to your vehicle. But if you have misplaced the pink
slip you can
download
form REG 227 from the California DMV Website and pick up
form REG 262 from your local DMV. All you need to do is sign
them as the seller and present them along with your car to the
towing agent who comes to pick up your vehicle.
Please leave the license plates
on your California vehicle, as the plates stay with the vehicles
in California.

How do I release the liability
of my donated vehicle in California?
The release of liability form is
attached to your title in most cases, but you can also download
the
California release of liability form if needed. Please
contact the California Department of Motor Vehicles with any
questions you have about how to release the liability of your
donated vehicle or refer to the California DMV web site:

What types of vehicles require a
title in California?
The following types of vehicles
require a title in California: Snowmobiles, ATVs, Manufactured
Homes, and boats. If you lost your title use either: Reg Form
262, or Reg Form 227.
Where do I sign the title before
donating my car in California?

Release ownership by signing on
line one of the title. If the vehicle is, or was financed, the
lien holder's name appears in the legal owner section and their
release with counter signature is required on line two.
